Happy new month beautiful people! Can you believe the year is almost over, however there is a whole 29 days left. Make the most of it, enjoy everyday and spend quality time with your loved ones. Today is an exciting day for me as I’m attending a Womenswear Pattern Cutting course at the London College of Fashion for the next three weeks, I couldn’t be more thrilled. Will definitely keep you posted.

Pattern Description: Fitted dress has front band and button fly, front princess seams that release into pleats.

Pattern sizing: I cut out a size 12.

Did it look like the photo once you were done with it? Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes pretty much until the button fly. It was confusing for me, maybe because it was my first time sewing a shirt kind of bodice. I ended up putting buttons on top of the band, yeah.

What did you particularly like about the pattern? I love the simplicity of the design.

Fabric used: 100% cotton wax print.

Pattern alterations or any designs you made? Made view B which suggests a detachable collar, but I opted to sew collar to the garment.

Would you sew it again? Most definitely.

Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I think so.

    Thanks for stopping by…

    New look Jumpsuit

Hi guys! How are you doing?

Who doesn’t love jumpsuits ladies? They are a way to give your wardrobe an edgy touch. You can dress them up with heels or dress them down with trainers and flats. Basically I have used this pattern in the past but I made pants instead, not too sure why. Anyways, got to go. Speak to you and have a great week, xo L.

    MCCALLS ‘S 7802

Hi Guys! How are you? Can you believe its October? It’s officially Autumn, and I’m pretty much loving it at the moment. The weather is not so warm and not cold either. I would say it’s at the stage where you don’t have to bring out the coats and jackets yet, a blazer is completely fine at least in London.

On to today’s  post. So basically when McCall came out with their fall patterns, I had to get the McCalls – 7802. I loved all the variations. In my mind I imagined making view C in a brown polka dot or an animal print, unfortunately I could not find these fabrics anywhere. And considering I committed to taking part in a sew along for September with @PrettyGirlsSew, I had to a make choice asap. In the end I went with this brown crepe abstract print, it has some weight to it. Honestly the camera did not pick up this print so well, its so beautiful in person.

    Alterations:

-View C, cut the full length skirt but decided to take 5 inches off to achieve a midi length. Took in 2 inches from the knee downward.

I think pairing midi skirts and dresses with boots in Autumn/Winter is so flattering. I can not wait to make the other views for spring and summer.

What do have planned for the last quarter of year? Start where you are. Start with what you have. Wishing you a good start in the week. Xo, Lekeleli.

    Asymmetrical Skirt

Hi guys! Hope y’all doing well. Gingham has been trending for years, and to say I haven’t owned a gingham any until now is actually crazy. Its such a classy print. After going through a images on Pinterest, I took to the fabric store in Brixton and found this light cotton gingham.

A while back I purchased this Pattern cutting for Women’s wear by Winifred Aldrich.

Basically this asymmetrical skirt is from a basic skirt block by inserting flare into panels by cutting and spreading. I bet a stripped fabric would also look amazing. I can not wait to make more garments from this book. Have a great week guys. Xo, Lekeleli

    Polka Dots

Hi Guys! Hope y’ all had a good weekend. Is there a thing as selfish sewing? Well I am totally guilty, recently I’ve been just sewing up for myself. This polka dot dress is from a few weeks ago, I wore it to church and some ladies liked it haha. Last weekend as I was sorting out my sewing space I couldn’t help but get rid of some patterns, however I’m slowly restocking my pattern stash which is exciting. So until next time, wishing a good start in the week. God bless, xx Lekeleli.
